Gold Olive Leaf Chandelier
Gold Olive Leaf Chandelier

Our living room is calling out for a bold hanging fixture, not only to bring in more light, but also to fill the cavernous space and add dimension to the room.

I found this amazing pendant chandelier at a local lighting dealer and am torn between the gold finish and the silver, the 24 inch or the 30 inch. The gold finish ties in with the marigold armchair and accents, and overall feels like a better fit with the warm tones in the room. The size could go either way, the room is large enough to support a 30 inch fixture and between us, I’m leaning towards Go Big or Go Home.

My husband’s first reaction was “Game of Thrones”…chalk it off to the male species.

Setting that reference aside, think I may have found the perfect solution for the space and the newest addition to our house design projects!

Back in the saddle on house projects..

I took a bit of a break on house projects after starting a new job last September and with the holidays taking up all of my deocrating bandwidth..but am now redoubling efforts to transform our house into our HOME.

So now getting back to LIGHTING projects…

Slowly but surely I’ve been working my way through the house removing all of the quasi-industrial brushed metal frosted glass light fixtures installed by the developer, who clearly watches the same HGTV reno show over and over again.

After falling in love with this chandelier at PB, I had to find a place to put it and decided to install in the corridor between our master bedroom and master bath. It looks incredible, adds so much dimension and makes the whole space feel warmer..

Focused on Lighting This Week…SCONCES

There are tons of lighting projects on our list for the new house, including the front hall, living room, the stairwell, bathrooms, all of the bedrooms, outdoor lighting…the list goes on!

But this week I’m focused on SCONCES and since Horchow has a sale right now, I just picked up these fantastic wooden ball sconces to replace the semi-institutional metal fixtures the builder installed on the landing in our stairwell (see photo below).

Can’t wait to install them!

THE LIST…my house projects, in no particular order

A GARAGE DOOR like this will add texture and a modern element to the facade..

FOLDING GLASS WALLS like these, to open the space up to an indoor/outdoor flow…

A LIVING ROOM SOFA like this one from Lillian August in a larger size (115 in) that will fill the length of the living room..

A MEDIA CONSOLE like this one from Horchow that will upgrade our family room. The challenge is finding one where you can use the remote control with the doors closed..

ART for the many vacant wall spaces, including the dining room, stairwell, upstairs hall, and family room. Michael Cutlip, a San Francisco artist whose work I love and aspire to collect some day. The piece below called PETALS has a spot reserved in the dining room..

A STAIR RUNNER that adds texture and warmth to the cool blonde wood of our staircase. LOVE the geometric pattern of this runner from David Hicks!

The MASTER BEDROOM WALK-IN CLOSET has to be super efficient because the space is small, it’s more like a maxi reach in closet..this one’s gonna be a challenge!

MASTER BEDROOM CLOSET DOORS like these to replace the original sliding doors, giving me easier access to everything!

Modern LANDSCAPING that incorporates arid and easy to maintain planting, as well as cable fencing which ties into the upstairs deck and interior stairway..

KITCHEN EXPANSION that opens up a kitchen wall and the living room wall into the side courtyard, creating an the indoor/outdoor flow..

Smaller scale SWIMMING POOL that works in our backyard the shape of a pizza slice..

These are two I like for the storage and style..
