Stairway Transformation

Home projects week 5!

Excited for the stairway transformation underway in my new townhouse…

Step I. Paint palazzo stripe walls for dramatic entryway that greets guests with a warm Welcome!

Step II. Replace black rod iron stair railing with lighter more modern cable rail system

Step III. Paint stairs all one color for continuity and a neutral foundation underneath the carpet runner

Step IV. Install stair runner for warmth and cozy comfort under our feet (esp the new puppy we’ll be bringing home in two weeks)

I’ll share all the steps here as they happen. So more pics to come soon!

New Home.New Home Projects!

Fun new design project ahead! I just bought a new house, only a mile away from where I lived before, but downsizing from 3,000 square feet and 4-bedrooms, to a cozy 2-bedroom townhouse the size of a postage stamp!

Even though it’s a monumental effort squeezing Chloe’s and my life into a shoebox, I’m really excited about the change…not only for the new blank canvas to design and decorate, but also a fresh, new start and launch of the next chapter of my life!

My project list is a mile long and the intention is to cover it all here on the blog.

But I like to start small and expand out, so let’s start with an easy, quick makeover in the powder room on the first floor.

The BEFORE looks somethong like this…

The AFTER will look much more current and happy, with a bold like this Kelly Wearstler Trellis wallpaper from Schumacher. I love it in Charcoal, what do you think?

My Bedroom Makeover

With a new year, new chapter and fresh attitude, what better place to start than a bedroom makeover!  My heart and my head are taking me from a darker palette filled with Asian antiques and toile patterns, to a light and airy space anchored in this soothing blush and taupe color scheme.

This mirrored console from ArHaus Furniture is the statement piece I can build the room around, and will also hold my TV and entertainment system. I see it styled with two fabulous lamps, my jewelry & perfume tray and fresh orchids.

Then I just discovered this pink chair from Pine Cone Hill that will be a perfect accent piece to tie the room together, and is functional too!

And because  all my design follows the rule of three, I’m combining these three bedding sets from Pottery Barn for one lux look that combines rich patterns, texture and soothing grey, taupe, blush and natural tones. Add the velvet, silk and linen duvets, coverlets and shams and it’s the ultimate mix of elegant and cozy. I’ll never want to get out of bed!

For the end of the bed, I love this tufted bench from Pottery Barn in grey linen with turned black legs. It not only completes the bed, but also gives me a place to toss my handbag and lay out the day’s wardrobe selection!

The next step will be the nightstands and lighting…any suggestions?!

I love a classic mirrored chest, but wonder if I’m over that look. This one from Horchow is gorgeous and would work nicely with my bedding, while providing a lot of great storage.

When it all comes together this bedroom makeover will have a bit of Hollywood glam mixed with modern elegance, for a cozy sanctuary and dreamy night’s sleep!
