My next TRIOZ project, and the reason I haven’t posted anything in so long, is this house that my husband and I just bought in April.
For some reason this move was a much bigger effort than previous moves (we’ve accumulated too much stuff!) and I’m just now resurfacing into normal day-to-day life. Prepared to begin the fun process of transforming the space into our own!
The house is a 1950’s rancher nested in a quiet corner of Burlingame and located just below the The Kohl Mansion, a beautiful property that’s now the home of Sisters of Mercy High School and Convent.
It was bought by a developer a year ago who renovated the first level then added a second level, doubling the square footage. The house was completed in February and we placed an offer on it that month. The stars aligned for us as the only bidders in an insane real estate market, and closing at under the asking price!
Needless to say, we’re happy new home owners!
And though I love the NEW-ness of it, when you buy a home done by a developer, you’re buying that developer’s taste….which in this case is not great.
The good news is the foundation is there and I’m excited for all the possibilities, but it’s going to be a PROCESS.
A process that has fueled my addiction to HOUZZ and PINTEREST, and will undoubtedly mean more hemorrhaging of money, whether on closet organizers and plantation shutters, sofas and wall art, or kitchen expansion and a mud room!
It all makes me giddy with excitement as I write this, though I must take a deep breath, for it is all in good time..
